Improve Function and Aesthetics with a Dental Bridge

At Columbus Aesthetic & Family Dentistry, we offer both traditional and implant-supported dental bridges to replace multiple missing teeth in a row. A dental bridge is designed to fill the gap in your smile, improving your ability to eat, speak, and chew properly. For your convenience, we may be able to incorporate advanced CEREC® technology into treatment, which enables us to craft and place dental bridges in a single appointment. Drs. Brett Helton and Alexis M. Gibbs are committed to providing patients in the Columbus, GA, area with the highest quality care, which is why we use only the most durable, natural-looking materials during treatment.

What is a Dental Bridge?

A dental bridge consists of two dental crowns fused with one or more artificial teeth, or pontics. To meet our patients' various needs, we offer both traditional bridges, which are attached to neighboring healthy teeth, and implant-retained restorations, which are affixed to dental implants.

We can affix a bridge to adjacent teeth, or we can attach this restoration to dental implants.

Traditional Dental Bridges

A traditional bridge is secured to the teeth on both sides of the gap, and the pontics fill the space where your natural teeth are missing. To prepare for treatment, we must reshape adjacent teeth to create sufficient room for dental crowns. After removing a portion of tooth enamel, we can take digital impressions of your smile and send them to an offsite lab where they will be used for fabrication. To ensure your restoration blends seamlessly in your smile, we can note the shade and shape of surrounding teeth.

We can incorporate advanced CEREC technology into treatment, which enables us to craft and place dental bridges in a single appointment.

For the right candidates, we can design and fabricate custom restorations in a single visit. Using high-quality ceramic, our in-office CEREC unit can carefully mill your dental bridge while you wait. As a result, you can achieve a fully functional and aesthetically pleasing smile the same day as treatment.

Implant-Supported Restorations

Bridges can also be attached to dental implants. A dental implant is a surgical-grade titanium post that is placed in the jawbone. Dental implants are an optimal replacement option because they mimic the roots of natural teeth. By doing so, implants stimulate the nerves in the jawbone to promote bone growth and prevent jawbone degeneration, which can occur after tooth loss. Implant-retained dental bridges do not require any modifications to adjacent teeth, enabling us to preserve more healthy tissue. In addition, they offer superior support and stability. Once your implants have successfully healed, our team can design and place your custom bridge.
